Code 1), a criminal conviction may disqualify you from a registration, commission or license under the Act. You may wish to review Rule 35.4’s list of disqualifying offenses and the related periods of ineligibility, available on the department’s website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/psb/index.htm.
You also have a right to request from the department a criminal history evaluation letter under Occupations Code Section 53.102.

HB3424 requires all new and re-qual Level 3 security guard to take a 10 hour in-person firearms proficiency class in addition to the online classroom/test portion.

About
This is a 15 hour course that is required by the Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Board. This course meets if not exceeds the training requirements of the PSB for a Personal Protection Officer license which allows a security officer to work in a bodyguard position. Subjects covered include: how to protect the principle when alone or as a team, threat avoidance techniques, and how to plan and scout escape routes. Some defensive tactics are taught as well as transportation tips, and the value and importance of proper planning and preplanning. As of June 13, 2022 DPS requires Level 4 to be instructed IN PERSON. Our level 4 dates will vary depending on instructor availability being our Level 4 Instructor, Bryan Proctor is also our primary School Safety Certification (Guardian) instructor. Prerequisites:
The PSB Commission Rule 430.1 states that an applicant for a Personal Protection authorization must have already been issued a Commission and be 21 years of age.
