No. Our Level 3 online course includes the Level 2 material within it. If you already know you're going for your armed commission, start with Level 3 and skip buying this separately — we'd rather tell you that than sell you both.
How long does the course take?
It's self-paced, and most students finish the same day they start. Texas rules don't set an hour count for the Level 2 course — so be wary of any school selling you a state minimum that doesn't exist.
Is the certificate my security license?
No. Training earns your course completion certificate; your registration is issued by Texas DPS after you apply through the TOPS portal. We walk you through that application step so nothing stalls.
Can my employer provide this training instead?
Sometimes, yes — Texas allows licensed guard companies to deliver Level 2 training to their own officers. If your employer offers it, that's a legitimate path. If you'd rather arrive certified, or you don't have an employer yet, that's exactly what this course is for.
Is this sometimes called a "guard card"?
You'll hear that term — it's borrowed from other states. In Texas the credential is the non-commissioned security officer registration, and this course is the required training for it.
What does security work pay without a firearm?
It varies by post and city, so we won't invent a number — but unarmed roles are the standard entry point, and many of our Level 3 students started exactly here, upgraded, and raised their rate.
